Yuba County Children’s Wellness
     &
             Child Abuse Prevention Council
               “Improving the well-being of children in Yuba County”
 
The Yuba County Children’s Council is open to the public. Public participation and comment are invited relevant to each agenda item.  If a member of the public has a comment on something other than an agenda item they may address the council during the Public Comment Agenda item.  Issues/comments requiring longer than five (5) minutes will be placed on the next Council meeting agenda. If you would like to have an item placed on the agenda, please contact. Council Secretary at least ONE week prior to the meeting. ​

       Members of the public are invited to share items of interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Council.  Any member of the audience may bring a matter before the Council that has not been agendized; however, State law provides that no action may be taken on any item not appearing on the posted Agenda.  The Council requests that comments be limited to five (5) minutes per speaker.

1.  Call to Order In the absence of the Chairman, Vice Chair Ericka Summers called the meeting to order at 8:03 AM.
 
 ​2.  Roll Call The following Council Officers were present: Ericka Summers, Meredith Evans, Francisco Reveles, Caron Job, John Floe, Gary Bradford, Cathy Leblanc, Sarah Feingold.
 
The following members of public were in attendance: Karen Woods, Margie Renicker, John Nicoletti, Amy Molina-Jones, Matt Ricardy, Nikki Williams, and James Moralez.
 
3.  Public Comment Caron Job shared with the group that Census is hiring and provided copies of informational materials to the group. America’s Job Center is also hiring. Cathy LeBlanc provided census updates from the Foothills. Families will have access to the census electronically.
 
Brief group discussion related to the upcoming activities and effort related to outreach and education providing outreach to families with children 0-5 and other Hard to Count populations regarding the on the importance of a complete census count. Mrs. Summers suggested and will connect with the EDC to come and present at the next Council meeting in March.

5.  Children’s Trust Fund Considerations John Floe reported no changes since December’s meeting regarding applications for the trust fund that he is aware of.  He advises any changes probably would have gone to Valerie Strawmeier, then to Jason Roper.
 
6.  Children’s Trust Fund Application Review Process
Cathy LeBlanc requested access to the form. Mrs. Summers will send this out to The Council. Mrs. Summers indicated that she has connected with Tony Gordon and is waiting on website updates.

7.  Bylaws Review Committee Update   John Floe reviewed and a brief discussion followed. No changes as of now. More discussion about this at the March meeting.     
 
8.  Prevention Network Update
Cathy LeBlanc discussed working with Strategies for Change. A brief group discussion followed related to ACEs trainings and community needs and assessments. The group discussed the current asset map that is still being developed. The group identified the need to call upon local agencies to identify their assets to be included in the map. Amy Molina Jones discussed at length the importance of asset mapping and provided a brief explanation of the current document for those not familiar with this process. This document (map) will be emailed out to the Council. There will be additional time following the March meeting for a working group related to asset mapping. Further discussion around making this information more accessible to the community. Some ideas that were shared included: connecting with Board of Realtors, Beale Air Force Base, and having information listed on the Welcome to Yuba County website, as having a presenter provide outreach to agencies in the community.  The PN steering committee would follow via email with next steps.

9.  Review of ILP Program/Displaced Youth Update The group discussed removing this item from the agenda.

10,  Displaced Youth Multi-Disciplinary Team (DYMDT) Amy Molina Jones discussed the DYMDT calendar. There is a meeting next Tuesday at the MJUSD office.
 
The group discussed the Month of the Child and Public Health Week. Summers shared that the Child Care Planning Council puts out a calendar of events. Mrs. Summers suggested that the group send upcoming events to her to be shared with CCPC.
